I am a final year, Mechanical engineering student at Indian school of Mines, Dhanbad, India working towards my B.Tech degree and will be graduating in July 2006 .I am seeking for summer internship/fellowship in the field of Finite element analysis, Computational fluid dynamics, Strength of materials, Composite materials or Vibration Analysis and am writing to enquire if you have any position for summer intern/fellowship. Subjects which I am studying/have studied that are relevant to the post include Advanced Fluid mechanics, advanced machine design, Strength of materials, Robotics and automation and Dynamics of machinery ,Theory of machines.
I learned about you from department website and after going through your research interests and your level of research work I am very impressed and would like to work under your guidance and I am very confident that with my educational background, my research interest and my computer skills I could make a valuable contribution to your research work.
My educational background and course work have developed in me a keen interest in doing research in the above mentioned fields. In fact my final year project is entitled “Failure analysis of composite materials in KI mode of fracture” where I am researching in the different failure phenomenon of composite materials, the criterion of fracture and the delamination phenomenon.”
Some of my notable achievements include:
1) I have qualified(Indian Institute of Technology –Joint entrance exam) IITJEE2002 securing a rank of 3490 among more than 127,000 students and thereby getting admission at Indian School Of Mines,Dhanbad(ISM).ISM is among 8 prestigious colleges in India (6 IIT's ,IT-BHU and ISM,Dhanbad) which admits B.Tech students trough IITJEE.
2) I have been receiving prestigious ISM scholarship from the academic session 2004 and had also been honored by ISM for securing 2nd position in my batch during 2 year.
3) Adjudged Second winner at “Car mach: The TATA one lakh car design contest” held at Kshitij-2005 at IIT Kharagpur among more than 50 contestants. The problem statement was to model (using 3D modeling software) and propose ideas to manufacture a car within one lakh Indian rupees. Our ideas were greatly appreciated and we were offered a paid summer internship at TATA motors, Pune. The training experience has provided me with good exposure to work in field of Automobile./Crash analysis.
4) Participated in many Robotics events such as: “Aquarobotix" and "Automotix" .This has helped me a lot by developing my innovative skills, interpersonal skills and my ability to work in teams.
5) I have also developed my management skills by holding a position of Mechanical Head, Organizing committee, SRIJAN-2004, have also volunteered in BASNAT-2004 and was the editor, Souvenir, Department of MEMME.
